Teaching Assistant - SEMH

Academics are currently recruiting on behalf of a highly respected and nurturing specialist SEMH school in Canterbury for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people who require additional support both inside and outside the classroom.

• Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
• Building positive relationships and acting as a consistent, trusted adult.
• Assisting with behaviour regulation and helping pupils engage positively in their learning.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other support staff.
• Encouraging pupils'' social, emotional and academic development.

• Experienced Teaching Assistants (TA)
• Learning Support Assistants (LSA)
• Behaviour Mentors or Youth Workers
• Individuals with an SEMH, SEN or pastoral support background
• Psychology Graduates looking to gain invaluable experience before pursuing further training or careers in education, counselling or mental health services.

• Be patient, resilient and compassionate.
• Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Be confident supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviours.
• Have a genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people succeed.
• Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
