Audit and Accounts Senior Basildon £40,000 - £45,000 An established accountancy practice is seeking an ACA or ACCA qualified Accounts and Audit Senior to join its team and support a diversified portfolio of SME clients. This is a hands-on production role with an approximate 70/30 split between accounts and audit, involving statutory accounts, straightforward corporation tax and self-assessment returns, alongside statutory audit work. The role offers regular client contact and the opportunity to take increasing ownership of a portfolio, with audit work principally focused on academy schools, as well as companies and charities. Role Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of predominantly SME clients across a range of industries. Prepare year-end statutory accounts under UK GAAP and FRS 102. Prepare corporation tax returns and CT600s. Prepare self-assessment tax returns. Review accounting records and identify accounting or tax issues. Liaise directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries. Undertake statutory audit assignments for companies, charities and academy schools. Plan and perform audit fieldwork and prepare high-quality audit working papers. Take responsibility for appropriate sections of audit assignments through to completion. Identify and communicate audit issues to senior team members or Directors. Work with clients during the audit process and resolve outstanding matters.
