We are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Transport Operator / Transport Manager to join our client who are based in Felixstowe. -

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient and cost-effective operation of the transport department, coordinating drivers and vehicles, maintaining compliance and delivering excellent levels of customer service.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong transport background who can work independently, manage a busy operation and bring a proactive approach to the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily running of transport operations.
• Plan, organise and coordinate daily vehicle schedules and deliveries.
• Manage and coordinate drivers, ensuring workloads are distributed effectively.
• Monitor vehicle movements and ensure collections and deliveries are completed on time.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, drivers'' hours and working time regulations.
• Maintain vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections and service records.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal departments.
• Resolve any operational issues, delays or transport-related problems.
• Monitor transport costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Ensure all transport documentation and records are maintained accurately.
• Promote a strong culture of health and safety across the transport operation.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience in a transport operator or transport management role.
• Strong knowledge of transport operations and logistics.
• Good understanding of drivers'' hours, tachographs and transport compliance.
• Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage changing priorities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Confident using transport management systems and Microsoft Office.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently.
