Senior / Principal Transport Planner – Policy and Strategy

£45,000 – £65,000 DOE

An award-winning international transport and engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Transport Planner into its growing Policy and Strategy team.

The business is a globally recognised employee-owned consultancy with over 6,000 staff worldwide and a strong UK presence across transport planning, infrastructure, sustainability and mobility advisory services. Their transport division works heavily across sustainable mobility, public sector advisory, decarbonisation and future transport strategy projects throughout the UK.

This opportunity sits within a specialist Integrated Transport Planning team delivering:
• Sustainable transport strategy
• Policy and business case development
• Active travel and mobility strategies
• Funding and investment cases
• Public sector advisory work
• Net zero and decarbonisation initiatives
• Transport research and analysis
• Stakeholder and public authority engagement

The role would suit somebody with consultancy or public sector transport planning experience who enjoys strategic/policy-focused work rather than purely development-led transport planning.

Key responsibilities:
• Preparing transport policy and strategy documents
• Developing business cases for sustainable transport schemes
• Research, analysis and evidence-based reporting
• Managing projects and stakeholder engagement
• Supporting bids and client development
• Mentoring junior team members
• Working closely with local authorities and public sector clients

Requirements:
• Transport planning consultancy or public sector background
• Strong report writing and analytical capability
• Experience delivering policy/strategy/business case work
• Good understanding of UK transport policy and funding environment
• Strong stakeholder and client communication skills
• Experience managing projects to programme and budget
• Relevant transport/planning/civil engineering qualification
