AI Engineer
AI Engineer – AI Implementation
Salary: Up to £70,000
Location: Remote-first (UK) – occasional client travel
An opportunity for an AI Engineer to join a growing technology consultancy, helping businesses implement AI, automate processes and develop bespoke software solutions.
This is a practical, hands-on engineering role focused on making AI work in real business environments. Rather than developing machine learning models or complex AI systems from scratch, the emphasis is on using existing technologies to solve problems, improve processes and deliver commercially valuable solutions.
You'll work across a variety of client projects, from implementing AI tools and integrating LLMs into existing business systems through to developing bespoke applications and automating workflows.
Projects could include building AI-powered receptionists, automating tender processes, developing bespoke training platforms, implementing Microsoft Copilot or creating entirely new AI-enabled products.
The work is varied, and you'll need to be comfortable moving between AI implementation, software development and broader automation projects depending on client requirements.
What they're looking for:
-
Strong software engineering background, with experience building, integrating and deploying applications.
-
Hands-on commercial experience implementing AI technologies into business environments.
-
Previous experience working within a technology consultancy, software consultancy or MSP, delivering solutions for external clients.
-
Experience integrating existing LLMs, APIs and third-party platforms into software applications and business systems.
-
Understanding of business process automation and workflow development.
-
Experience with Microsoft Azure preferred, although AWS and GCP backgrounds will also be considered.
-
Familiarity with AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude and AI-assisted development technologies.
-
Ability to understand client requirements and translate business problems into practical technical solutions.
Beyond the technical experience, commercial awareness is essential. You'll need to understand what a client is trying to achieve, challenge requirements where necessary and recognise when a straightforward solution will deliver more value than a complex one.
The business is growing its AI capability and needs engineers who can contribute from day one, take ownership of delivery and adapt to different customer requirements.
You'll have the opportunity to work across multiple industries, deliver a wide variety of AI solutions and contribute to the development of new products and services as the business continues to expand.
The position is remote-first, with occasional travel to client sites across the UK.
If you're a software engineer with hands-on AI implementation experience and a background in consultancy or client-facing technical delivery, get in touch to find out more.
