Legal Disrepair Surveyor
As a Legal Disrepair Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing property inspections and remedial works relating to housing disrepair claims, including those involving solicitors and court proceedings. You will act as the technical lead on disrepair cases, ensuring that repairs are specified, completed promptly, and documented to a high evidential standard.You will work closely with Legal Services, Repairs Teams, and external contractors to mitigate risk, reduce claim costs, and ensure residents live in safe, well-maintained homes.Key ResponsibilitiesInspect properties subject to disrepair claims and prepare detailed technical reportsDiagnose building defects including damp and mould, structural issues, and building fabric failuresProduce clear schedules of works in line with legal protocols and pre-action requirementsManage and monitor contractors to ensure timely, high-quality completion of worksPrepare witness statements and Scott Schedules where requiredAttend joint inspections with independent experts and legal representativesSupport legal teams in defending or resolving claimsEnsure compliance with relevant legislation including Landlord and Tenant Act obligationsAbout YouWe are looking for someone who has:Proven experience in managing housing disrepair cases within social housing or local authority settingsStrong knowledge of building pathology, particularly damp and mould diagnosisExperience working alongside legal teams and understanding of pre-action protocolsEx
