Job Description

Baxterstorey is seeking an experienced and innovative Head Chef to lead our culinary team in Nottingham, United Kingdom. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and service.Develop and implement creative, seasonal menus that align with our brand and customer preferencesLead and inspire a team of skilled culinary professionals, fostering a positive and collaborative kitchen environmentManage kitchen operations, including staff scheduling, inventory control, and food cost managementEnsure compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulationsCollaborate with the management team to achieve financial targets and improve overall kitchen efficiencyOversee quality control for all food preparation and presentationParticipate in menu tastings, special events, and client meetings as requiredStay abreast of current culinary trends and incorporate them into menu offerings where appropriateMentor and develop junior staff members, promoting skill enhancement and career growth

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Head Chef in a high-volume, professional kitchen settingStrong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse teamExcellent culinary skills and in-depth knowledge of various cuisines and cooking techniquesProficiency in menu planning, recipe development, and food presentationStrong understanding of food safety principles and relevant certifications (e.g., Level 4 Food Safety)Ability to manage budgets, control costs, and optimise kitchen efficiencyExcellent organisational and time management skillsStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressureCulinary degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised institutionUp-to-date knowledge of dietary requirements and food allergiesFamiliarity with inventory management systems and kitchen equipment
