The Federal Income Tax, Research and Experimentation (“RandE”) Tax Credit (“Director”) is responsible for assisting clients in identifying and claiming RandE (commonly known as RandD) tax credits and defending those credits during audits by the IRS and/or state tax authorities. This role includes supervising tasks such as on-site field work, credit calculation, and deliverable development, as well as researching tax law and relevant court cases. This role has direct supervisory responsibilities.Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key ResultsPeople:Participate in business development activities — directing staff in feasibility studies, proposals, presentations, and planning strategies.Oversee the construction of tax technical and study-related training materials. Train and supervise team members, ensuring accuracy and completeness.Lead hiring and termination efforts for managers and below, acting as liaison with HR for employment matters.Set, communicate, and monitor team performance goals, motivating the team to meet or exceed them.Client:Serve as the primary client contact with C-Suite individuals, maintaining strong relationships.Prepare for and participate in client meetings to explain RandD Tax Credit services and secure engagement.Draft engagement letters, extensions, and contracts for RandD tax credit services.Oversee client invoicing and internal bonus allocations, collaborating with Accounts Receivable.Develop project work plans and schedules.Supervise field work, including facility tours, interviews, data analysis, and report drafting.Respond to client requests and ensure deliverables meet deadlines.Participate in meetings with client tax personnel.Review RandE credit calculations and deliverables.Value:Conduct tax technical research on relevant laws and court cases.Lead thought leadership activities, including publications and speaking engagements.Forecast annual revenue and practice planning activities with Practice Leaders.Coordinate with Engagement Principals to complete RandD Credit Study engagements.Education and Experience:Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Science, or Juris Doctorate.Enrolled Agent status required within 6 weeks of promotion or hire.At least 10 years of RandE/RandD tax credit experience.At least 10 years of tax professional services experience.Prior supervisory experience required.Professional Skills:Excellent organization and time management skills.Strong written and oral communication skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet research.Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervise team members in accordance with company policies and laws.Work Environment:Standard indoor environment.Occasional long periods sitting at a computer.Occasional standing during recruiting events.Interaction with employees at all levels, clients, vendors, and candidates.Travel up to 25%.#J-18808-Ljbffr
