Thinking about a move after half term? Salford schools are recruiting.

Whether you''re after a change of school, a more flexible way of working or a permanent post for the new term, now is a natural time to make a move. Tell us what you''re looking for and we''ll do the matching.

About Empowering Learning

We connect qualified, committed teachers and support staff with schools across Greater Manchester. Every teacher we work with gets the time to talk through what they want, so we can match you to schools that fit your experience, teaching style and availability. We act as your employment business, handling registration, compliance, placements and pay so you can concentrate on the classroom.

The opportunity

We''re looking for primary teachers with QTS to join our Manchester teaching pool and work in Salford and the surrounding towns. You''ll find everything from small, close-knit primaries to large multi-form entry academies. You decide how you work:

  • Daily supply: pick the days that suit you and fit work around the rest of your life
  • Long-term supply: block bookings, including maternity and absence cover, with the continuity of your own class
  • Permanent roles: we''ll help you find the right school and support you from application to start date

You''ll have a named consultant who knows what you''re looking for and works to find you the right school.

Day to day

  • Prepare and teach structured, engaging lessons, following the curriculum and the school''s planning where it''s provided
  • Teach EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2, depending on what you''re best at and what you prefer
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, following each school''s policy
  • Create a calm, inclusive classroom where every pupil feels safe and supported
  • Monitor progress and give marking and feedback where the booking requires it
  • Support children with SEND and EAL, working closely with the SENCo and teaching assistants
  • Follow school policies, including safeguarding, health and safety and the code of conduct
  • Report safeguarding concerns immediately to the school''s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues, senior leaders and, if needed, parents and carers

About you

Essential

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a UK-recognised equivalent
  • Recent primary teaching experience in the UK, or your ECT induction completed
  • Confident behaviour management and good communication
  • A genuine commitment to keeping children safe
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Willingness to complete our full registration and compliance process

Desirable

  • Experience in EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND or EAL
  • Experience of phonics schemes (e.g. Read Write Inc, Little Wandle) or primary maths mastery
  • A clean, enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Flexibility to take both short-notice and long-term bookings

Early Career Teachers: we welcome ECTs and will talk you through how supply and long-term roles fit alongside your induction.

Why this role?

  • Roles close to home in Salford, Eccles, Swinton and beyond
  • Daily supply if you want flexibility, long-term or permanent if you want stability, and you choose which bookings to take
  • Competitive daily rates, paid weekly
  • A route into long-term and permanent roles if that''s where you''d like to go

Why join Empowering Learning?

  • A named consultant who learns your availability and what you want from the role
  • Team Teach training: frequent Level 1 & 2 courses from our dedicated staff training office
  • Free CPD, including safeguarding and behaviour management
  • A compliance team to guide you through registration one step at a time
  • -250 when you refer a qualified teacher who joins us and starts work

Pension auto-enrolment where eligible, holiday pay in line with the Working Time Regulations, and equal treatment on pay and basic working conditions after the qualifying period under the Agency Workers Regulations.

Our registration and safer recruitment process

We follow safer recruitment practices in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and our obligations under the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003. All teachers who register with Empowering Learning go through a full set of pre-placement checks before working in any school. These include:

  • An interview (in person or by video) to discuss your experience, motivation and suitability for working with children
  • Proof of identity, including photographic ID and proof of address
  • Right to work verification (including online share code checks where applicable)
  • An enhanced DBS check with barred list check, plus Update Service registration where possible
  • Verification of your qualifications, including QTS
  • A Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) check to confirm you are not prohibited from teaching
  • Two satisfactory references, covering at least the last five years of employment or study, including your most recent employer
  • Overseas criminal record checks (or equivalent) if you have lived or worked outside the UK
  • A full employment history, with any gaps explained
  • Medical fitness confirmation for the role
  • Completion of safeguarding training, including up-to-date knowledge of KCSIE Part One

We''ll support you through each stage and keep you updated, so you know exactly what''s needed and when you can start work. Please note that all placements are subject to these checks being completed to our and the school''s satisfaction.
