Project Manager

Location: Whiteley, Hampshire (2-3 days per week onsite)
Duration: 6 months
Rate: Up to -550/day (Umbrella)
IR35: Inside IR35
Clearance: BPSS to start (SC required for the role)

Overview

A leading organisation within the Defence & Security sector is seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver complex IT infrastructure projects within a critical national infrastructure environment. This contract role will involve leading multidisciplinary teams, managing project governance and ensuring successful delivery to time, cost and quality requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, budget, manage, report on and deliver allocated IT infrastructure projects into service.
  * Develop and maintain project plans, work breakdown structures, budgets, resource requirements and delivery milestones.
  * Lead virtual and multidisciplinary teams through matrix management, including Work Package Managers and Project Delivery Team members.
  * Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and mitigation actions in line with appropriate governance processes.
  * Ensure projects comply with relevant regulatory, safety, environmental, health and security requirements.
  * Manage suppliers, contracts and project deliverables in collaboration with Commercial, Supply Chain and Legal teams.
  * Build effective relationships with customers, suppliers, regulators, internal stakeholders and senior leadership teams.
  * Act as the key interface for projects, communicating progress and ensuring strategic decisions are identified and managed through to completion.

Skillset/experience required:

• Significant experience in project management, preferably within IT infrastructure, defence, security or another regulated environment.
  * A recognised project management qualification, such as APM PMQ, APM or an equivalent qualification.
  * Experience delivering and integrating complex projects from planning through to implementation and operational handover.
  * Strong understanding of project management methodologies, governance, financial control, risk management and benefits delivery.
  * Experience managing commercial relationships with customers and suppliers, including contract performance and deliverables.
  * Demonstrable ability to lead multidisciplinary and virtual teams in a matrix environment.
  * Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management and decision-making skills.
