Client Snapshot:

An opportunity has arisen with an established housing and support provider delivering housing-related support to adults across the Wakefield district who need accommodation or are at risk of homelessness. The service focuses on person-centred support, independence and successful move-on into suitable accommodation.

Vacancy Brief:

• Housing Support Worker – community-based role covering the Wakefield district.
• Three-month temporary assignment, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9-5pm.
• Enhanced DBS Certificate is essential.
• No weekend, out-of-hours or bank holiday work.
• Pay rate: £14.00 per hour PAYE or £18.04 per hour Umbrella.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
• Business mileage reimbursed at the standard HMRC rate, subject to appropriate business-use motor insurance.
• Candidates must be able to commit reliably to the full assignment and take on an existing caseload with minimal lead-in time.

The Responsibilities:

• Manage an existing caseload of adults with housing-related needs, including people at risk of homelessness.
• Deliver tailored, person-centred support to vulnerable individuals with complex needs.
• Help clients sustain accommodation, build independent living skills and work towards suitable move-on housing.
• Apply relevant housing legislation, policies and safeguarding practices.
• Work independently and travel between client and service locations across Wakefield.
• Maintain accurate case notes, support plans and records; liaise with relevant agencies and partners.

Skills and Attributes:

• Recent experience in housing support or homelessness services is essential.
• Good knowledge of housing legislation and relevant policies.
• Proven experience independently managing caseloads and supporting vulnerable people with complex needs.
• Strong communication, organisation and person-centred support skills.
• Reliable availability and commitment for the full three-month placement.
