Complex Care Support Worker
High-Level Complex Care | Respiratory Support | Epilepsy & Functional Seizures | Ongoing Opportunity
At Clover Care Group, we believe great care starts with seeing the person, not just their care needs.
We are looking for experienced and compassionate Complex Care Workers to join a dedicated care package supporting an adult client with significant and complex health needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who combines strong clinical skills with patience, warmth and a genuinely person-centred approach.
The Role
You will provide safe, consistent and compassionate care within a detailed clinical care plan, helping the client to remain comfortable, safe and as independent as possible.
The role includes:
- Respiratory monitoring and airway management
- Suctioning and cough-assist
- BiPAP and oxygen support
- Nebuliser administration
- Monitoring oxygen saturations and recognising respiratory deterioration
- Supporting during and following epileptic and functional seizures
- Rescue medication where trained and competency assessed
- Medication administration
- Jejunostomy (J-tube) care and nutrition support
- Suprapubic catheter care
- Bowel care and irrigation
- Personal care and daily living
- Skin integrity and pressure-area prevention
- Accurate documentation and clinical escalation
- Supporting social interaction, community access and meaningful activities
Key Clinical Experience
The client has significant respiratory needs, including reduced respiratory muscle strength, asthma, shallow breathing at night and reliance on BiPAP. Staff must be confident recognising changes in breathing, oxygen levels, colour, respiratory effort and responsiveness, and responding appropriately to deterioration.
Airway management and suctioning are an important part of the role. The client can have difficulty clearing saliva and mucus and may require suctioning and cough-assist to maintain a clear airway.
The package also involves supporting a client who experiences both epileptic and functional seizure episodes. Staff must be able to recognise the different presentations, remain calm, follow the agreed seizure protocol and administer rescue medication only when appropriately trained and competent.
Additional clinical care includes J-tube nutrition, suprapubic catheter care, bowel irrigation and medication administration. The client also takes Warfarin, making careful clinical practice, accurate documentation and awareness of bleeding risks particularly important.
Previous experience with BiPAP, suctioning, cough-assist, epilepsy/seizure management and enteral feeding would be highly desirable.
About You & Our Values
At Clover Care Group, we're looking for people who understand that clinical expertise is only part of excellent care.
The ideal person will be:
- Experienced in complex care
- Confident with respiratory support and specialist equipment
- Calm and capable during clinical emergencies
- Experienced in, or willing to train in, seizure management
- Observant and confident recognising changes in health
- Patient, compassionate and reassuring
- Reliable and consistent
- Respectful of privacy, dignity and personal choice
- A strong communicator and team player
- Committed to supporting independence and quality of life
A calm and reassuring approach is particularly important. During periods of anxiety, distress or seizure activity, staff should reduce stimulation, communicate gently and maintain the client's dignity and privacy.
We're also looking for someone who understands that life is about more than care. Supporting social interaction, community activities, relationships and the client's personal interests is an important part of providing genuinely person-centred care.
Training & Competency
All carers will complete the required package-specific training and competency assessments before undertaking clinical tasks independently.
You'll receive ongoing support from the Clover Care clinical team to ensure you are confident and competent within the package.
