Working within Aureos'' Rail Business Unit, and forming a part of theCommercialteam, the Quantity Surveyor plays an integral part in delivering exceptional commercial results. Core responsibilities encompass project delivery, commercialreportingand maximising profit.

The successful candidate willbe responsible forthefollowing:

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you willassistthe commercial team in providing support to the contract delivery team to ensurethe profitability, cash management, costcontrolandaccuratereporting of all schemes. Your role will require you to:
  • Capablysubmitapplications and control credit processes
  • Understanding of income forecast and pricing of variations
  • Understanding of the change control system
  • Understanding of project risk
  • Production of cost value reconciliation (CVRs) with support
  • Produce cost to complete with support
  • Understanding the production of forecasting data
  • Understanding the costing process
  • Understanding the management of the full sub-contract cycle and input into sub-contract documentation.
  • Assistingwith weekly cost to complete/budget reviews with the contract delivery teams.
  • Upload documentation as and when necessary, in line with business requirements.
  • Review weekly site records including allocation sheets and site diaries.
  • Attend project progress meetings.
  • Assistingwith the preparation of monthly financial performance reports.
  • Gain experience outside of the commercial function to better understand the role of the business and the quantity surveyor within the business.

Weoperatea team ethos across the Rail Business Unit and strive toassistcolleagues in the execution of their duties where this isappropriateand brings added value. The Quantity Surveyoris responsible forthe following in this respect:
  • Working with the commercial and operational teams to strive for continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to their own professional development, and that of others across the Business Unit
  • Other tasksappropriate tothe role of Trainee Quantity Surveyor, asidentifiedby the Quantity Surveyor/Managing Surveyor

Expectations

Targets for the Quantity Surveyor will be set and reviewed on a 6 monthly basis, aligned with the responsibilities and behaviours listed within this job description. The section below will be used to record key targets, which will align with Performance Reviews undertaken via the current Group process. The Trainee Quantity Surveyor is expected to:
  • Independently contribute to prompt payment of sub-contracts and maintenance of sub-contract liabilities and other trackers
  • Complete and well organised records
  • Contribute to thetimelyproduction of Cost and value reconciliations.
  • Maintain a professional development log and commit to continuous improvement.
