The Role

SNMS is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Registered Nurses to join our Custody Nursing Team, covering Perth & Kinross.

As a Custody Nurse, you will provide clinical assessments, nursing care and triage to individuals in custody and within Scottish court settings.

This is a varied and rewarding role involving individuals with a wide range of physical health, mental health and social care needs.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting clinical assessments and health screening.
• Providing nursing care and clinical triage.
• Identifying physical and mental health concerns, including substance misuse and withdrawal risks.
• Recognising safeguarding concerns and escalating clinical risks appropriately.
• Maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
• Working collaboratively with police personnel, court staff and other healthcare professionals.
• Ensuring all individuals in custody are treated with dignity, respect and compassion.

Essential Requirements

• Current NMC registration.
• Minimum 1 year''s recent nursing experience.
• Full, valid driving licence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexible, professional and compassionate approach to patient care.

Previous experience in patient assessment, mental health, emergency care or substance misuse is advantageous but not essential, as full role-specific training will be provided.
