Design Technology Technician - Independent School | Part-Time | Term-Time Only

Location: Essex (easily accessible through the Elizabeth Line)

Start Date: March 2026/April 2026

Salary: -12,858 (FTE -27,522)

Hours: 22.5 hours per week, term-time only

Working Days: Monday, Tuesday and Friday

Our client, a leading independent through school in Essex are currently seeking a Design Technology Technician to support the Design & Technology Department. This is a part-time, term-time only role, providing practical and technical support to teaching staff and pupils within a busy workshop environment.

The successful candidate will support the Head of Design Technology and teaching staff with the preparation of lesson resources, maintenance of equipment and machinery, and the smooth day-to-day running of the department.

This role would suit someone with a strong interest in Design & Technology and workshop environments, who enjoys working in a school setting and supporting pupils in practical learning.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• A strong knowledge or interest in Design & Technology
• Confidence working with workshop equipment and tools
• Good organisation and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions
• Strong communication skills when working with staff and pupils
• A friendly, flexible and proactive attitude
• High levels of integrity, patience and professionalism

Desirable:

• Knowledge of CAD/CAM systems
• Experience using workshop machinery
• Design & Technology Association (DATA) Health & Safety training
