About the client:

Our client is a prestigious Tier 1 main contractor delivering major projects across commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and infrastructure sectors. They are seeking an experienced Pre-Construction Manager to lead the planning and coordination of projects during the pre-contract stage, ensuring successful handover to the delivery team. As Pre-Construction Manager, you will take ownership of the pre-construction phase, managing design development, cost planning, risk, and buildability reviews to set projects up for success. You’ll work closely with bid, design, estimating, and delivery teams, providing strategic input that ensures tenders are competitive, compliant, and aligned with client expectations.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Lead and manage the pre-construction process from bid stage to project handover
• Coordinate design, estimating, planning, and procurement inputs
• Develop and manage pre-construction programmes, ensuring deadlines are met
• Identify and mitigate project risks early in the process
• Provide buildability, logistics, and sequencing advice to optimise delivery
• Manage client engagement, ensuring clear communication throughout pre-contract stage
• Work with commercial teams to ensure projects are financially viable and competitive

The ideal candidate will have/be:

• Proven experience as a Pre-Construction Manager (or Senior Design/Pre-Con Lead) for a Tier 1 or large Tier 2 contractor
• Strong technical and commercial understanding of construction projects (Design & Build, JCT, NEC contracts)
• Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and lead multi-disciplinary teams
• Proactive, solution-focused, and commercially astute
