Credit Controller
to join us in our Manchester office. The Caunce O’Hara broking team provides specialist insurance services to contractors, consultants, freelancers, and self-employed professionals through the Caunce O’Hara and OLLO brands. We offer a comprehensive range of insurance coverage, including professional indemnity, public liability, employers'' liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, property, occupational personal accident, legal representation and employment cover, and cyber insurance. Customers can obtain quotes and purchase coverage directly through our websites or receive assistance from our team of insurance experts over the telephone. We have ambitious plans for growth to expand our presence within our target sectors. This role presents an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to advance their career in insurance.Invoice and Payment Management: Monitor overdue invoices, issue timely reminders, and liaise with brokers to ensure prompt collections.Ledger Oversight: Maintain accurate ledger records, ensuring all transactions and communications are properly documented.Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to resolve payment queries, invoice discrepancies, and coverage issues efficiently.Proactive Collections: Track accounts regularly to encourage timely payments before they become overdue, following agreed collection schedules.Reconciliation and Allocation: Match incoming payments to invoices and investigate any discrepancies or unallocated funds.Issue Escalation: Flag high-risk or delayed accounts to management with clear recommendations for next steps.Compliance: Ensure all credit control activities align with internal policies and regulatory standards, including AML and data protection.Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to streamline credit control processes and reduce debtor days.Qualifications
Credit Control Experience: Previous experience in Credit Control or Accounts Receivable, ideally in insurance or financial services (2–3 years preferred). Familiarity with collections and debtor management processes.Financial and Data Literacy: Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) and experience with accounting or ERP systems. Ability to analyse financial data.Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication. Able to negotiate payments and maintain professional relationships with brokers and clients.Attention to Detail: Accurate in managing financial records and multiple accounts.Organisation: Strong time management and ability to handle a high workload independently.Problem-Solving: Analytical, proactive approach to resolving account discrepancies and overcoming payment obstacles.Teamwork: Works well independently and collaboratively with brokers, underwriters, and finance teams.Professionalism: High integrity and professionalism, with respect for sensitive financial matters.Resilience: Able to work under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.Who We Are
