Client Local Authority in NewhamJob Title Housing Policy Officer Pay Rate 23.27 an hour PAYE/ 30.38 an hour UMBRELLAHours 36 Hours a week(Mon-Fri) 9AM-5PMDuration Initial 3 month contractLocation HYBRID WORKING- Offcie based in Dockside,Newham 2-3 days a week Description The post holder will:Draft policies, produce and monitor strategies, and deliver effective procedures for service areas.Liaise across services and with external stakeholders such as residents, the voluntary sector and organisations including the Housing Ombudsman and Regulator of Social Housing.Monitor and improve services as part of the work of the Housing Strategy and Partnerships teamKey Tasks and Accountabilities: To co-ordinate feedback on draft policies and strategies from senior officers and, where appropriate, the Cabinet Portfolio Lead and Mayor, and ensure that work is approved according to the Council''s governance arrangementsTo contribute to delivery of service and case reviews to facilitate service improvement across Housing.Draft Cabinet and committee reports as necessary.To review and produce commentary and analysis for directorate performance reports, and regulatory submissions.To draft and co-ordinate responses to significant policy consultationsKNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of current policy issues affecting local authorities and social housing, including new the new regulatory regimeExperience of writing briefings and/or reports on policy and/or service
