We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturer on a permanent night shift in  . This role provides the opportunity to work a four day week while contributing to a safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operation.  The successful Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance, helping to maintain and improve processes and equipment to ensure plant availability and reliability. All work is to be carried out in accordance with strict health and safety protocols. Working closely with operational teams, you will help to minimise downtime, improve equipment performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

For those commuting, the company provides a works bus from the centre of Wrexham.  Working hours, Monday to Thursday 18:00 to 06:00 (four-day working week).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake planned maintenance to keep machinery and equipment operating efficiently and safely.
  • Respond to breakdowns and perform reactive maintenance when required.
  • Collaborate with team leaders and operational managers to identify risks and implement solutions that enhance equipment reliability.
  • Assist in developing and improving maintenance schedules and preventative strategies.
  • Participate in investigations into recurring faults, applying root cause analysis to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence as a Maintenance Engineer.

Requirements:

  • Time served, completing a formal apprenticeship, a similar recognised qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent, or appropriate on the job experience.
  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong mechanical skills, with solid electrical knowledge.
  • Experience in both planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented, with strong numerical and problem-solving ability.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to liaise with external contractors when required.
  • Flexibility to support other group sites if required.
