Accounts Assistant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an early-career Accounts Assistant to join a well-established business based in Liss. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build on their existing accounting experience, gain broader exposure across the finance function and develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
The role would suit someone who is curious, commercially minded and enjoys finding better ways of doing things. Alongside the day-to-day transactional accounts, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in process improvement, systems and the use of technology and AI to make the finance function more efficient.

Accounts Assistant – About The Role
Reporting into the Financial Controller, your main responsibilities will include:
- Managing the purchase and sales ledger function
- Processing supplier invoices, matching, batching and coding
- Raising sales invoices and monitoring outstanding debtors
- Completing daily bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate cash records
- Preparing weekly payment runs
- Reconciling supplier, customer and inter-company accounts
- Managing petty cash and company credit card reconciliations
- Processing employee expenses
- Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems
The Successful Accounts Assistant will have:
- Some previous experience in an accounts or finance role.
- A good understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger, bank reconciliations and payment processing.
- Strong attention to detail, with a well-organised and methodical approach.
- Good Excel skills and confidence using accounting systems, with an interest in learning new technology.
- The ability to manage priorities, work independently and meet deadlines.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the curiosity to identify process improvements and explore how technology and AI can make things more efficient.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively with colleagues across the business.
