Are you a recent Psychology graduate eager to apply your knowledge in a practical, rewarding setting£ A welcoming primary school in Bourne End is looking for a passionate and proactive Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a therapeutic educational environment, ideal for those considering a future in educational psychology, mental health, or SEN teaching.
Your Role Will Include:
- Supporting children on a 1:1 and small group basis, helping them manage emotional and behavioural challenges.
- Applying psychological principles to encourage emotional regulation, resilience, and positive social interactions.
- Assisting in the delivery of structured routines and interventions tailored to individual needs.
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement personalised support plans.
- Creating a safe, nurturing space where pupils feel understood, valued, and empowered.
Weandrsquo;re Looking For Someone Who:
- Holds a degree in Psychology or a related field.
- Has a genuine interest in child development, mental health, and inclusive education.
- Is empathetic, patient, and confident in building relationships with children who may display challenging behaviour.
- Is keen to learn and grow professionally, with access to ongoing training in safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and therapeutic approaches.
- Has previous experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential).
