Description

We are in the process of establishing an integrated Scottish Audit team comprising over 30 partners, directors and staff. This builds on the growing audit practices in the existing businesses.The current teams are based on Glasgow and Ayrshire with a client base focused on Glasgow and Ayrshire, but with a wider geographic spread across the whole of Scotland and Northern England.Our clients are principally entrepreneurial owner-managed SME businesses with turnover ranging from £5 - 100 million. In addition, we have a thriving charities and no-for-profit business providing audit and advisory services to many well-known Scottish organisations.The role is for a Responsible Individual (RI) who will be based in our Glasgow office in West George Street

It will also involve working closely with our teams in our Ayr and Kilmarnock offices, as well as assuming responsibility for many key client relationships.We have a ready-made full client portfolio for the RI to step into. Initially the successful candidate will focus on developing relationships with clients and the team, ensuring the audit work is performed efficiently, on time and to the required standard.Business development activities, whilst important in the longer term, are not an immediate area of focus.The successful candidate will join a Senior Audit Management Team, comprising Partners and Directors. As a key member of this senior team the individual will play a key role in the day to day management of the Audit Department, ensuring its smooth running, and meeting key financial targets.This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join an existing business, step-into an existing portfolio of audit clients, and contribute to the future success of a dynamic business.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the RI, you are responsible for signing off on audit reports and ensuring adherence to quality standards.Ensure timely and effective communication with the team, keeping them informed of engagement progress and any potential issues requiring resolution.Maintain close contact with clients throughout engagements, attending meetings and addressing concernsBuild and nurture strong relationships with new and existing clients, offering strategic guidance to meet their business needs.Develop and maintain positive, long-term commercial relationships with clients, driving the development of client work and enhancing the quality of services provided.Identify and pursue opportunities for cross-selling Dains services, contributing to new client acquisition and winning new work, including pricing and proposals.Provide strategic advice to clients on significant operational issues, either directly or by coordinating with the appropriate expertise within the firm.Perform advanced technical tasks as required, ensuring the delivery of detailed, high-quality work.You will monitor, evaluate and advise on relevant accounting standards, regulations and financial reporting frameworks.Present confidently, showcasing the firm’s expertise with flair and professionalism.Collaborate closely, as required, with the audit team nationally to ensure the delivery of high-quality audits.You will control work in progress and billing on own portfolio.In due course, drive business development initiatives to expand the firm’s audit client base and enhance service offerings.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Education:

You hold a professional qualification CA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent.You will hold a current (RI) practising certificate

Leadership and Management Skills:

You possess strong leadership qualities with experience in managing teams and projects including a portfolio of clients.

Technical Skills:

Understand appropriate auditing and accounting technicalities and apply this knowledge to provide commercial and strategic solutions to clients.You must also have the relevant capability to undertake an RI review of a file and complete sign off, of audit reports to the highest possible standard.

Communication Skills:

You will possess exceptional presentation and communication skills to enable you to convey complex information clearly and engagingly across all levels of the organisation.Adaptability and Innovative Thinking:

You can adapt to changing business needs and have a flair for thinking creatively.Industry Knowledge:

You have a robust understanding of the accounting industry’s standards, legislation and best practices and understand the impacts on different clients.
