Salary Scale: £13.80 to £15 per hour

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and passionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join a special school in Waterlooville. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our pupils with special and complex needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
The school based in Waterlooville is dedicated to providing the highest quality learning experience for children with special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other additional needs. Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 support for pupils with challenging behaviour, Autism, SEMH and mental health needs
- Help promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and a safe learning space
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to provide consistent, tailored support
- Working with children in the classroom setting
- Managing challenging behaviour
- Working with students one-to-one and small groups
Requirements for Behaviour Support Assistant:
- Has experience working with young people, this could be as a Sports Coach, Dance Leader, Scout Leader or something similar (preferred, not essential).
- Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs (preferred, not essential).
- Experience working with SEN (in school, care, or voluntary settings) preferred, not essential
- Can engage children in and out of the classroom
- Feels confident managing challenging behaviour
- Knowledge of and experience with behaviour management strategies.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in SEN practices and strategies.

- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
