Assistant Pre-Construction Trainee

OverviewWe are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Pre-Construction team as an Assistant Pre-Construction Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in the construction industry, specifically in pre-construction. The role will provide exposure to tender preparation, commercial evaluation and technical review across IDandL projects. The successful candidate will work on projects ranging from £10m+ across industrial developments. This position offers the opportunity to develop your career in a supportive environment whilst working towards professional qualifications and with potential progression within the Pre-Construction Department. The role requires strong organisational, communication, and technical writing skills to assist in the preparation of high-quality tender submissions.
Responsibilities
Tender Support and Administration
Assist in the preparation and submission of tender opportunities
Assist the Pre-Construction Manager with the preparation of key presentations
Help to coordinate and distribute technical information and tender addendums to internal teams and consultants
Assist in organising and preparing documents for Tender Handover meetings
Assist with the Estimating Department in the preparation of tender enquiries
Commercial Activities
Assist in marking up enquiries to be sent to the supply chain
Assist with the production of Bills of Quantities under supervision
Help evaluate returned quotations from supply chain partners
Assist in preparation and evaluation of risk and opportunity registers
Support quarterly supply chain performance reviews
Learn to identify and investigate potential Value Engineering opportunities
Technical Support
Assist in reviewing tender documentation for completeness and missing information
Support technical scope reviews and undertake basic ''sense checks'' of design information
Help prepare and maintain RFI (Request for Information) registers
Assist in reviewing design for risks and opportunities
Support preparation of Information Release Schedules
Learn about alternative construction methods and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC)
Assist with BIM requirements review
Support development of Net Zero Carbon strategies
Skills and Experience Required
HNC/Degree qualification, ideally in a relevant discipline.
Proven experience working across multiple levels of an organization and collaborating with various departments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related tools.
Experience in drafting, reviewing, and submitting proposal responses.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise content.
A motivated and ambitious individual with excellent communication and organisational skills.

Good level of computer literacy
Good communication skills with ability to work effectively in a team environment
