Control Engineering Team Leader
to lead the Control Engineering team, define the strategy and working practices, and organise and prioritise the tasks for the development of robust control algorithms that meet the performance and safety goals for highly safety-critical software systems.Responsibilities
Lead the control engineering team, accountable for their personal development and technical deliverablesSet strategic direction for control algorithm and digital twin development, safety analysis, reusability, quality, requirements, architecture, and verificationManage the team, setting development goals, scheduling resources and deciding prioritiesDevelop the team members, identifying training and development needs and growth opportunities, setting the team structure and identifying resource gapsFulfil the project requirements to the quality and schedule agreed with the head of softwareDeliver validated simulation models to predict and refine the performance of the control systemDeliver compliance statements throughout the project lifecycle for the performance of the product (e.g. power, efficiency, dynamic response) to the customer requirementsTune and refine the algorithms to ensure that the performance criteria are metIdentify tools and initiatives that will improve quality and efficiency of control algorithm and simulation developmentDefine the processes and practicesSkills and experience
Extensive experience in software algorithm development and/or control simulation, ideally in a safety-critical environmentExperience in aerospace, automotive, rail, medical electronics or similar industryStrong leadership and organisational skillsAbility to lead and develop a team, deliver technical items on schedule, and provide personal growth to team membersInstinctive problem-solving skills coupled with a sound analytical approachA self-starter with energy and enthusiasm, able to thrive in a small business environmentAbility to work under pressure while managing conflicting demands against tight deadlinesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsA flexible approach to workUK driving license and ability to travelSeniority level
