Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Process Control Group. The School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW has an opportunity for a Research Associate. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow is required to carry out scientific research on an ARC Discovery Project titled “A Probabilistic Approach to Big Data-Based Industrial Process Control” (DP250101137). The Fellow will undertake research on control theory and machine learning techniques for project DP250101137. The Fellow will work with the Process Control Group in the School of Chemical Engineering. This role reports to Professor Jie Bao and has no direct reports.Responsibilities
Conduct research on aspects of the ARC Discovery Project DP250101137, focusing on control theory and machine learning for process control.Collaborate with the Process Control Group and contribute to publications and presentations.Contribute to project deliverables under supervision of Professor Jie Bao.Qualifications
PhD in Engineering or Mathematics.Demonstrated skills and experience with process control and modern control theories including nonlinear control and stochastic systems theory, ideally Behavioural Systems theory and applications.Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision.Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work in a team and with diverse stakeholders.Strong mathematical skills.Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship (visa sponsorship not available).Location and Term
