Head of Games Design – Up to £100k – Hybrid – Manchester (2 days per week)

We’re looking for a Head of Games Design to join an established iGaming business and lead the development of innovative online slot games from concept through to launch.

This is a particularly maths-focused design leadership role, ideal for an experienced Games Designer or senior/lead Mathematician who combines a strong understanding of game design with the technical ability to model, simulate and balance games. You’ll have significant influence over how games are designed, tested and ultimately brought to market across a range of international jurisdictions.

The Role

• Lead the design of new online and mobile slot games, from initial concepts through to release.
• Develop and balance game mathematics, including RTP, volatility, hit frequency, paytables and feature behaviour.
• Build and oversee simulations and prototypes, using C++ or C# to test mechanics and validate game performance.
• Turn mathematical models into clear, practical specifications for development teams.
• Define game mechanics, features, player journeys and overall product concepts.
• Work closely with Product, Art, Engineering and Mathematics teams throughout development.
• Use simulation, playtesting and performance data to refine games and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Present concepts, designs and mathematical models clearly to internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Ensure games are developed with the relevant regulatory and market requirements in mind.

What We''re Looking For

• Strong experience within iGaming, gambling or interactive gaming, ideally focused on online slots.
• A proven background in game mathematics, simulation and balancing, whether gained through Games Design or a senior/lead Mathematics role.
• Strong knowledge of RTP, volatility, probability and mathematical modelling within slot games.
• Programming experience with C++ or C#, with the ability to create or work closely with teams on game simulations and prototypes.
• A good understanding of game mechanics and what creates an engaging player experience.
• Able to combine analytical thinking with creative game design.
• Confident communicating technical and creative concepts to stakeholders and third parties.
• Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple projects or products.
• Understanding of gaming regulations and the requirements of different international markets.

Nice to Have

• Experience delivering slot games into US or Canadian markets.
• Knowledge of UKGC, MGA and North American regulatory requirements.
• Experience with Unity, Unreal or another game engine.
• Exposure to live games, player analytics, A/B testing or feature optimisation.
• Previous leadership, mentoring or team management experience.
• Experience working with licensed or branded gaming content.
• Experience using AI tools to support game development or prototyping.
