Salary: -750 - -1,500 per week Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications (MPS/UPS + TLR where applicable)
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, Term time
About the School:
A specialist SEND provision in Rochdale is seeking an experienced Teacher or Middle Leader to cover a class supporting learners with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This is a flexible, learner-led area of the school, working with young people who often present with high anxiety and require a bespoke, trusting approach to re-engage with education. The role offers the opportunity to lead a small team and make a genuine difference in a nurturing, specialist environment.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead and teach a class supporting learners with SEMH needs
- Deliver a flexible, learner-led curriculum tailored to individual engagement levels
- Support learners in building trust, confidence, and readiness to progress toward more structured learning
- Lead and support a team of Teaching Assistants within the class
- Implement and monitor EHCP targets and person-centred plans
- Liaise closely with families, external agencies, and the wider school leadership team
What We''re Looking For:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching or leading within SEMH, SEND, or alternative provision settings
- Confidence managing a flexible, learner-led approach with students who may present high anxiety or complex behaviours Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Previous middle leadership experience is desirable but not essential
To Be Eligible You Must:
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have an enhanced DBS certificate already on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one
- Provide two professional references from child-related roles
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
