SEND Teaching assistant
Vision for Education is currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work within a welcoming specialist school in Chelmsford. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them to achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
The RoleAs an SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs. You may work on a one-to-one basis or with small groups, adapting learning activities to meet individual needs while encouraging independence and promoting positive behaviour.
The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Complex learning needs
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEND in a school, care, youth work or similar setting
- Is patient, compassionate and resilient
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Is committed to helping every child reach their full potential
A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential. We welcome applicants with transferable skills and a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.

To be considered for the role of SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Have experience of working with children or young people with SEND
- Have, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS check registered to the Update Service
- Be able to provide references covering the last two years
- Be willing to complete our National Teaching Assistant Programme (NTAP) if you do not already hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification
