Manufacturing Engineer & CNC Programmer
We are representing a well-established precision engineering company within the aerospace sector that is looking to recruit an experienced Manufacturing Engineer & CNC Programmer. This is a key role within their engineering team, focused on supporting production through advanced CNC programming and process development.
The Role
As Manufacturing Engineer & CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for generating CNC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machines and developing end-to-end manufacturing processes for new and existing components. This includes tool definition, setup documentation, routing configuration, and ongoing optimisation of workflow and space utilisation. You will work closely with the New Product Introduction (NPI) team and play a crucial part in improving manufacturing efficiency, cost reduction, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate CNC programs (GibbsCAM preferred, others considered) and prove them into production.
- Develop tooling plans, setup sheets, and workholding strategies.
- Configure supporting process elements: routings, tooling, gauges, inspection methods.
- Define materials, tools, and methods to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Lead improvements in workflow, layout, and process capability.
- Support AS9100-compliant documentation and quality systems.
- Liaise with machine tool and cutting tool vendors for technology upgrades and process innovation.
- Drive cost structure transparency and identify reduction opportunities.
- Stay current with emerging manufacturing technologies and trends.
Required Experience
- Strong background in CNC programming for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machines.
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software-
- Experience in aerospace or precision engineering environments.
- Familiar with AS9100 and high-quality manufacturing standards.
- Able to interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
- Skilled in specifying tooling and machining strategies.
- Demonstrated experience improving production processes and workflows.
Qualifications
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Aerospace Engineering.
- Relevant training in CAD/CAM systems.
