Quantity Surveyor

The Company:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an established Quantity Surveyor to join my client, a chartered building company based in Bristol. For over ten years, they’ve been making places to be proud of, from exceptional new-build homes to the sensitive transformation of existing buildings. Due to an increase in new projects starting they are now looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team and play a key role in delivering these projects successfully.

The Role:

As Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for managing the commercial side of their projects from pre-construction through to completion. You’ll work closely with their project teams, clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers, helping to ensure projects are commercially well managed while maintaining the quality and standards.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing project costs, budgets and financial reporting.
• Preparing and reviewing estimates, tenders and cost plans.
• Procuring and managing subcontract packages.
• Reviewing quotations and negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Managing variations, valuations and payment processes.
• Monitoring project expenditure and forecasting final costs.
• Preparing regular commercial reports and providing clear financial information to the project team.
• Working collaboratively with site and project teams to identify commercial opportunities and risks.
• Supporting the successful handover and final account process.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is commercially astute, organised and confident working collaboratively with others.

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
• Experience working on high-quality residential, refurbishment or bespoke building projects.
• Strong commercial and contractual understanding.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical ability.
• Good communication and negotiation skills.
• The confidence to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
