This fixed-term maternity cover role has a starting salary of -31,659 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week.

We have a great opportunity to join our Children, Families and Lifelong Learning (CFLL) Workforce Team as a Workforce Administrator on a fixed-term maternity cover contract up to 12 months

We support hybrid working with the right balance. This role is based at Victoria Gate, Woking, with opportunities for flexible and hybrid working in line with business need.

About The Role

Would you like to play a key role in supporting the workforce that delivers vital services for children, young people and families across Surrey?

You will provide high-quality administrative support across recruitment coordination, onboarding, workforce administration, establishment management and organisational change processes. You will maintain accurate information, coordinate key activities and help ensure an excellent experience for managers, candidates and new starters.

Working closely with managers, corporate colleagues and external partners, you will support the employee lifecycle from recruitment through to onboarding and workforce administration. Your day-to-day work may include coordinating interviews, supporting recruitment processes, welcoming new starters, maintaining workforce information and helping services manage workforce changes.

The role offers exposure to the full employee lifecycle and is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in workforce, recruitment, HR or business support within a large and complex organisation.

You will build strong stakeholder relationships, contribute to service improvements and develop a broad understanding of workforce practices within local government. Your work will directly support the workforce delivering services to children, young people and families across Surrey.

About the Team

The CFLL Workforce Team works in partnership with managers and stakeholders across the directorate to provide workforce, recruitment and onboarding support.

The team supports recruitment activity, workforce administration, establishment management and organisational change processes, helping services attract, recruit and retain talented people. We work closely with managers and corporate services to provide solutions that support service delivery and organisational priorities.

Your Application

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following criteria and align with our behaviours:

  • Experience of providing administrative support in a busy environment
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of maintaining accurate information and records, with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office applications and digital systems
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively, take a proactive approach and use initiative
  • Experience of recruitment, workforce administration, HR processes or onboarding activities would be advantageous but is not essential

Local Government Reorganisation (LGR)

Surrey County Council is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation and will move to new authorities in April 2027. This role is currently employed by Surrey County Council and will remain so until then. If you are employed by Surrey County Council on 1 April 2027, your employment will transfer under TUPE arrangements to one of the new councils, with your current terms and conditions protected.
