General Practitioner to join the Primary Care team at HMP Thameside. HMP Thameside is a category B remand prison located in South East London. The prison houses around 1,232 patients with needs including substance misuse and mental health. The role is in a busy healthcare environment where no two days are the same. Ideal applicants will have experience with substance misuse prescribing and an interest in delivering training and development for junior prescribing staff.Hours and compensation
Hours: Monday 9am-5pm; Wednesday 9am-5pm.Salary: up to £130,000 FTE per annum depending on experience.How we will support you

Our General Practitioners are highly valued and operate as respected members of the Prison Healthcare community. Your responsibilities will vary, and you will:Deliver first-class healthcare to a diverse group of patients and develop knowledge in areas not usually experienced within a practice or AandE environmentProvide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient requirements and make timely decisions regarding future managementProvide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team on site, while engaging with patients and contributing to clinical governance and effectiveness activitiesQualifications required
MBChB or MBBSInclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers ListEvidence of engagement with annual appraisalExperience working as a General Practitioner in community general practiceEvidence of continuing professional developmentAbility to work with patients with a history of substance misuseRCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or willingness to undertake these qualificationsBenefits and additional information
