Commercial Lead / Commercial Manager - Water Infrastructure

The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Commercial Lead / Commercial Manager to join a major £140m water infrastructure project in the Romsey area.
This is an opportunity to take commercial responsibility for a significant capital delivery scheme, working closely with the Project Director and leading an established commercial team.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in major civil engineering or water infrastructure projects, with proven experience managing NEC Option C (Target Cost) contracts.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the commercial team, including Managing, Senior and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
• Oversee commercial performance and financial management across the project.
• Manage procurement activities, including subcontractor and supplier appointments.
• Prepare and present monthly commercial reports to senior leadership and the Board.
• Validate Cost to Complete (CTC) forecasts and ensure accurate Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reporting.
• Proactively manage subcontractors, including commercial performance, variations and contractual obligations.
• Oversee main contract administration and commercial management under NEC Option C.
• Support the close-out of historical final accounts alongside the Senior Quantity Surveyor.
• Work closely with the Project Director to identify commercial risks, opportunities and cost efficiencies.

About You

• Proven experience as a Commercial Lead, Commercial Manager or Senior Managing Quantity Surveyor on major infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding and practical experience of NEC Option C (Target Cost) contracts.
• Previous experience within the water sector, utilities or major civil engineering projects.
• Demonstrable experience managing commercial teams and subcontractor packages.
• Strong knowledge of CVR reporting, CTC forecasting and financial controls.
• Experience reporting commercial performance to senior management or board level.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
