We are recruiting experienced Multiskilled Painters & Decorators to join One Manchester on a permanent basis.
This is a mobile position involving painting, decorating and associated maintenance work across occupied homes, empty properties and communal areas. Candidates must be comfortable communicating with residents and delivering a professional, high-quality service while working safely and respectfully in residential environments.
Working pattern
The role operates on a fixed working pattern:
- Four weekdays from 11:30am to 8:00pm
- Every Saturday from 8:30am to 4:00pm
- Sunday and one weekday off each week
The working pattern is fixed. Applicants must therefore be able to work the late weekday shifts and every Saturday on a permanent basis.
Key responsibilities
- Complete internal and external painting and decorating work
- Work across occupied homes, empty properties and communal areas
- Prepare walls, ceilings, woodwork and other surfaces for decoration
- Strip existing finishes and remove loose or defective materials
- Fill, sand, seal and repair surfaces before applying finishes
- Complete minor plaster patching and associated making-good work
- Apply emulsion, undercoat, gloss and other appropriate paint systems
- Complete wallpaper stripping, lining and hanging where required
- Carry out snagging, recoating and finishing work to the required standard
- Recognise staining, damp, mould and underlying surface defects
- Report underlying property defects rather than simply covering them
- Protect flooring, furniture and residents'' belongings throughout the work
- Maintain clean, tidy and safe working areas
- Communicate professionally with residents and colleagues
- Complete minor secondary-trade tasks where appropriately skilled
- Record completed work and report any additional repairs identified
- Follow all health and safety procedures and safe systems of work
Essential requirements
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Painting and Decorating
- Substantial hands-on painting and decorating experience
- Strong surface-preparation and finishing skills
- Experience completing work independently
- Full, valid UK driving licence
- Confidence driving a transit van around Manchester
- Ability to work the fixed weekday and Saturday rota
- Good customer-service and communication skills
- Ability to work professionally in occupied residential properties
- Appropriate hand tools for the practical assessment

Recruitment process
The first stage will be a telephone suitability conversation with the hiring manager.
Successful candidates will then attend a face-to-face interview and practical painting and decorating assessment.
Candidates attending the practical assessment must:
- Wear suitable work clothes
- Bring their own hand tools
- Provide evidence of their NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 qualification
