We are working with a leading main contractor delivering multiple commercial construction schemes, looking to recruit an experienced Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial management of earthworks, groundworks and associated civil engineering packages. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage high-value subcontract packages across multiple projects, with individual packages valued up to -20m.

Your Day-To-Day Duties:

• Managing the commercial delivery of earthworks, groundworks and civil engineering packages across multiple industrial schemes

• Overseeing subcontract procurement, tender analysis and package negotiations

• Reviewing and agreeing subcontractor applications for payment and valuations

• Managing variations, change control and additional works

• Monitoring package costs, forecasting and reporting against project budgets

• Managing subcontractor accounts through to final account agreement

• Identifying and managing commercial and contractual risks

• Liaising with project teams, subcontractors and senior commercial staff to ensure effective package delivery

• Ensuring contractual compliance and maintaining accurate commercial records

The Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial role within the construction industry

• Strong experience managing groundworks, earthworks or civil engineering packages

• Previous experience working for a main contractor

• Experience managing high-value subcontract packages, ideally on industrial, logistics or commercial projects

• Strong knowledge of subcontract procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts

• Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple packages and work effectively across several projects

Rate & Package

The day rate is negotiable, dependent on experience. The role offers a long-term freelance opportunity overseeing major groundworks and earthworks packages across multiple industrial construction schemes, with an immediate start available for the right candidate.
