Overview
People with lived experience as end users of human service systems must be at the forefront of policy research and technical assistance to improve those systems. Human services systems include intellectual and developmental support systems, systems to support older adults and people with physical disabilities, brain injury programs, and other publicly funded service systems that provide support to people with disabilities. In keeping with the mantra, “Nothing about us without us,” Human Services Research Institute is administering the Grassroots Project, and this position will be part that project team.We are seeking a full-time Project Manager to support the Grassroots Project, a project focused on connecting people with disabilities to advocacy movements and supporting leadership development among people with disabilities. The Project Manager will be responsible for implementing and executing project work including coordinating with federal partners, state and local advocacy organizations, advocates, families, and people who access long-term services and supports.Who We Are

We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager with a passion for systems change who wants to be part of an innovative, dedicated team that puts advancements in supports for people with disabilities at the center of the work we do.The ideal candidate is highly organized and can lead the planning and implementation of several project workflows, deliverables, and timelines, and ensure work is being done consistently and effectively. The successful applicant will be a capable liaison between content experts, technical staff, and federal agency and advocacy organization partners to ensure accurate and timely completion of project deliverables.Additional important qualities include an interest in and human service policy or service systems; a demonstrated approach to developing positive, trusting, and engaging relationships with collaborators, consultants, and community members; and someone who listens and contributes to a sharing of diverse perspectives. We anticipate a strong applicant will bring research experience, lived experience of using systems, as well as experience changing systems. A commitment to promoting justice, equity, person-centered services, and wellness across the lifespan is essential.Responsibilities
Lead projects from planning to completion, defining scope, goals, deliverables, tasks, and resource needsDocument project details, track progress and risksManage communication and schedules, and maintain organized project records. Ensure that goals and actions are completed on time and within scope, by monitoring and measuring project performance as needed.Develop and maintain detailed project plans for multiple, concurrent workflows. Monitor and track documents and resources, and maintain records in accordance with established procedures. Ensure a reliable flow of information and successful execution of project activitiesManage project resource allocation; plan and schedule project timelines; and track project deliverables using appropriate toolsProvide direction and support to the project team; quality assurance; monitor and report on progress of the project to all community partnersPresent reports defining project progress, problems, and solutionsImplement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputsEvaluate and assess project resultsManage the work of subcontractors and consultantsBuild, develop, and grow relationships vital to the success of the projectHelp identify resource requirements and work to align the assigned project team on project scopeOther Duties and Responsibilities

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years’ related experience requiredAdvanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointStrong interpersonal communication skillsOutstanding grasp of information technology concepts and processesMust be able to prioritize and execute project tasks in a high-pressure and visible environmentDemonstrate initiative and set high personal standards of performance; maintain a consistent, high level of productivity; and be committed to the organizationClear understanding of the organization’s mission and cultureCommitment to teamwork and team buildingAbility to effectively coordinate activities within projectsAbility to effectively work in a team-driven environmentAbility to work independently and with geographically diverse teamsCritical attention to detail and accuracyExperience in problem-solving and ability to balance competing prioritiesDesired Qualifications
A commitment to promoting person-centered services and the principles of justice while dismantling inequitable systemsAbility to practice cultural humility, seeking out and valuing diverse perspectives and experiencesProject Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), or another industry-recognized certification, is considered an assetFamiliarity with U.S. health and supports systemsExperience engaging in human service system change efforts (advocacy, reform, and/or quality improvement) either as a staff person or an advocateLocation
This is a remote position with an option to work from our Cambridge, MA, office, which is accessible by public transportation. HSRI does not permit remote work arrangements based in California, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and outside the United States. Must have unrestricted authorization to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa.Hours
