Senior Quantity Surveyor

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage all cost and commercial aspects of the utilities civils package, including drainage, water supply, power distribution, and telecoms infrastructure. This is a lead position responsible for budget establishment, cost control, commercial negotiations, and claims management.

Responsibilities

• Establish, maintain, and report on utilities civils budgets and cost forecasts
• Manage variation orders, change control processes, and cost implications of design changes
• Review and process subcontractor invoices, valuations, and payment applications
• Manage commercial claims and cost-related correspondence with stakeholders
• Provide cost advice to engineers, site management, and the design team
• Monitor expenditure against budget and escalate variance
• Develop and manage procurement strategy for utilities civils scope
• Mentor junior QS and cost support staff
• Maintain commercial documentation and records to support project position
• Attend project controls and commercial meetings

Essential

• RICS-qualified Quantity Surveyor or equivalent professional qualification
• Minimum 8 years'' experience in utilities civils or major infrastructure cost management
• Proven track record on rail, station, or major London infrastructure projects
• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
• Advanced Excel and cost management software proficiency
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Stakeholder management experience across multi-disciplinary teams

Desirable

• Experience with NEC or similar modern contract forms
• Familiarity with BIM or integrated project delivery models
• Track record managing complex claims and disputes
