The Role

Supply Desk are looking for a passionate and dedicated Secondary School Biology Teacher to join a welcoming and ambitious school in Watford.

The successful candidate will inspire students through engaging Biology lessons, encourage scientific curiosity, and help develop a strong understanding and enthusiasm for the subject across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher or ECT who is looking to build their career within a supportive school environment and make a meaningful difference to students’ academic development.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach Biology across Key Stages 3–5 (or Years 7–12), adapting teaching approaches to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
• Plan and deliver engaging, challenging, and practical lessons in line with the relevant curriculum.
• Use practical experiments and investigations to bring Biology concepts to life and encourage scientific enquiry.
• Assess and monitor student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback to support continued development.
• Promote high standards of health and safety, particularly when working in laboratory and practical environments.
• Create an organised, positive, and stimulating learning environment.
• Encourage students to develop curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, participate in departmental meetings, and contribute to curriculum planning and development.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, or a related subject.
• A recognised teaching qualification/certification such as QTS, or relevant classroom experience.
• Strong subject knowledge across Biology and an understanding of appropriate laboratory techniques for secondary education.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
• A genuine passion for Biology and the ability to inspire and motivate young learners.
• A positive and committed approach to supporting students and contributing to the wider school community.
