Overview

An outstanding individual is sought to fulfil the role of Training Programme Director for Psychiatry of Learning Disability, South London.The role of Training Programme Director is to work with and support the Postgraduate Dean in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions within their specialty, aligned to the NHS England mandate. The Programme Directors will ensure that both national standards, determined by the Royal College and guidelines and standards established within Psychiatry are met. The successful applicant will work closely with the Head of School, other Psychiatry TPDs, the LaSE team (including the PGMDE Business Manager, Postgraduate Dean, and other key departments including Quality). They will work with the Postgraduate Dean to produce doctors who strive for the highest standards of patient-centred care and commit themselves to a lifetime of professional development.Main duties of the job

The Programme Directors will ensure that both national standards, determined by the Royal College, and guidelines and standards established within Psychiatry are met. Responsibilities will include:Oversee the Specialty''s Regional Training ProgrammeAddress specialty-specific matters and trainee/trainer concernsRecruitment to training posts and programmesPostgraduate programme management, including assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation, OOP management, trainee management careers support, less than full-time training, inter-deanery transfer, academic training and other related work-streamsThe ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Psychiatry training across the region, who will also have strong leadership and communication skills and be able to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team.About us

Qualifications

Membership/Fellowship of College / Faculty, professional association, and/or bodyQualification such as PG Cert, diploma or Master of Medical EducationEmployment / Experience

Working with learners or doctors in training in an educational contextExperience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi-professional teamDemonstrable track record of delivery of service and educationApplicants who are doctors require a licence to practisePrevious or current appointment as a leader in healthcare educationSkills and Abilities

Demonstrable leadership skills and an ability to influence and motivate othersA strong sense of vision and ability to innovateStrong interpersonal, communication, written and presentation skillsPersonal development and support for others to develop and progressIn line with TPD sessional payments, depending on experience.
