About the opportunity

Think Education Partners is recruiting a qualified Science Teacher for a maternity cover position at a secondary school in Ipswich, starting in January 2027.

Both full time and part time applications will be considered. You will teach Science across KS3 and KS4, helping pupils develop their understanding of Biology, Chemistry and Physics through practical investigation and classroom learning.

Your objectives

As the school’s Science Teacher, you will help pupils to:

• Build secure subject knowledge across KS3 and KS4.

• Develop practical investigation, analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Understand how science connects to everyday life.

• Grow in confidence when applying scientific ideas and explaining their findings.

• Make progress towards their learning goals and GCSE examinations.

Your responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons that combine theory and practical activities.

• Teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics across KS3 and KS4.

• Assess pupils’ understanding and provide clear feedback to support progress.

• Adapt lessons for different abilities and learning needs, including SEND.

• Establish clear expectations for behaviour and safe working during experiments.

• Work with colleagues to support curriculum planning and consistent teaching.

• Contribute to safeguarding and the wider life of the school.

What we are looking for

To apply for this Science Teacher role, you must:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

• Have strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach Science across KS3 and KS4.

• Be confident planning and managing safe practical lessons.

• Have effective classroom management and organisational skills.

• Be committed to supporting pupils of different abilities.

• Be available to start in January 2027.
