TimePlan Education is proud to be working in partnership with a highly regarded SEN school in Rochdale that is seeking a confident and adaptable SEN Cover Supervisor to join their supportive team immediately.
This specialist setting focuses primarily on supporting students with autism (ASC) and a range of additional cognitive and neurological needs. With a strong sense of community and a cohesive staff team, this is a fantastic opportunity to work within a setting that truly prioritises inclusion and student wellbeing.
The Role
As a SEN Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged with pre-set work while maintaining a calm and purposeful learning environment. In addition, you will support teaching staff across the school, assisting with classroom activities and helping pupils access learning successfully.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering pre-prepared lessons to secondary-aged students
- Managing behaviour confidently and consistently in line with school policy
- Supporting pupils with autism and additional needs to remain focused and regulated
- Assisting teachers within lessons when not covering classes
- Promoting positive routines, engagement and independence
- Providing feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil progress and behaviour
This role requires strong behaviour management skills, confidence leading a class and the ability to build positive, professional relationships with students.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with young people, ideally within education or SEN
- Confident leading a classroom independently
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Calm, proactive and engaging approach
- Understanding of autism and associated needs (desirable)
