This specialist setting focuses primarily on supporting students with autism (ASC) and a range of additional cognitive and neurological needs. The Role

As a SEN Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged with pre-set work while maintaining a calm and purposeful learning environment. In addition, you will support teaching staff across the school, assisting with classroom activities and helping pupils access learning successfully.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering pre-prepared lessons to secondary-aged students
• Managing behaviour confidently and consistently in line with school policy
• Supporting pupils with autism and additional needs to remain focused and regulated
• Assisting teachers within lessons when not covering classes
• Promoting positive routines, engagement and independence
• Providing feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil progress and behaviour

This role requires strong behaviour management skills, confidence leading a class and the ability to build positive, professional relationships with students.

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with young people, ideally within education or SEN
• Confident leading a classroom independently
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Calm, proactive and engaging approach
• Understanding of autism and associated needs (desirable)
