Assistant Project Manager
Assistant Project Manager
Gloucestershire | -30,00035,000+ DOE | Permanent | Monday-Friday
Major infrastructure. Nuclear projects. Aerospace, engineering and high-value assets. A rapidly growing business with serious progression opportunities.
If you''re an organised, proactive problem-solver looking to develop your career in project management, this is an opportunity to work on projects that are genuinely out of the ordinary.
We''re recruiting an Assistant Project Manager for a specialist Gloucestershire business delivering bespoke asset protection and packaging solutions across the nuclear, infrastructure, aerospace, automotive, energy and industrial sectors.
The company is an established Tier 1 supplier into one of Europe''s largest nuclear construction programmes, alongside protecting an extraordinary variety of high-value assets.
One project could involve critical equipment for a major nuclear development; another could involve a helicopter, luxury vehicle, generator or specialist machinery. The team has even worked on huge fuel tanks the size of two-storey buildings and heritage assets.
Very little here is standard - and that''s what makes the role exciting.
Why join?
This is a business going through significant growth.
Revenue doubled in 2025, further major nuclear-sector projects have been secured, the team is expanding and there are plans for European growth.
Joining now means becoming part of the business at an exciting stage, with genuine opportunities to take on more responsibility and progress towards a Project Manager role.
Despite its growth, the company has retained a close-knit, hands-on culture where people are valued, individual contributions are recognised and good ideas can quickly become reality.
The role
This is a genuine project role - not simply project administration.
Working closely with the Project Manager and Commercial Director, you''ll help take projects from initial purchase order through to successful delivery and invoicing.
You''ll be the person helping to keep everything moving - coordinating customers, suppliers, site teams, documentation, schedules and resources to make sure projects are delivered safely and on time.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning, scheduling and coordinating project activity
Managing projects from purchase order through to delivery and invoicing
Maintaining project plans, schedules and documentation
Preparing and submitting RAMS and site paperwork
Communicating with customer Project Managers and Service Managers
Coordinating suppliers, materials and deliveries
Briefing site teams before work begins
Coordinating people, equipment and resources
Monitoring progress and highlighting potential delays
Maintaining risk and issue logs
Tracking expenditure and supporting budget monitoring
Producing project updates, reports and schedules
Supporting site operations when required
Ultimately, you''ll become someone the senior team can trust to take ownership, solve problems and make things happen.
What are we looking for?
You don''t need specialist packaging experience - the product can be taught.
We''re looking for someone who can organise, communicate, think logically and confidently manage multiple priorities.
You might currently be an Assistant Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Project Support Officer, Site Administrator or Document Controller, or an ambitious graduate looking to build a project management career.
Experience within construction, engineering, manufacturing, energy, nuclear, infrastructure or an industrial environment would be particularly valuable.
Ideally, you''ll have:
Previous project coordination, support or relevant operational experience
Excellent organisation and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Confidence dealing with customers, suppliers and site teams
The ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
A calm approach under pressure
Strong practical problem-solving skills
A proactive, "make it happen" attitude
Health & Safety awareness or willingness to undertake training
Good Microsoft Office skills
GCSE Maths and English or equivalent as a minimum
A full, clean UK driving licence
The package
-30,00035,000+ depending on experience
Permanent role
Monday to Friday
Specialist nuclear-sector training and site induction
Excellent career progression
Clear opportunity to develop into a Project Manager
Exposure to major UK infrastructure, nuclear and engineering projects
A varied role where no two projects are quite the same
This is a rare opportunity to join a growing specialist business, gain valuable experience within the nuclear and major-project environment, and build a long-term project management career.
If you''re ambitious, organised and enjoy being the person who keeps things moving, we''d love to hear from you.
