Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive primary school in Barnet. This is a full-time position with the flexibility of an immediate start or a September 2026 commencement, with the potential to become a permanent role for the right candidate. You will be responsible for providing tailored support to pupils with diverse learning needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and thrive within a supportive classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH.
• Assist the class teacher in adapting learning materials and resources to meet individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, social development, and communication strategies.
• Work closely with the SENCo and external professionals to monitor and report on pupil progress.
• Foster an inclusive and positive learning atmosphere that encourages independence and confidence.

Essential Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience supporting children with SEN, ideally within a primary school setting.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting pupils with complex needs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• A proactive attitude and a commitment to inclusive education.
• A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning is desirable but not essential.
