Applications are invited for a full time Consultant in Sedation and Special Care Dentistry to work across the University Dental Hospital, and University Hospital Llandough within the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to collaborate with advice to Cardiff University to help provide high quality education to undergraduates in the areas of Sedation and Special Care Dentistry.The University Hospital of Wales is a regional and national centre for a number of medical specialties and this role will include opportunities to support the development of networks where medicine and dentistry interface.Working for our organisation

Qualifications and Training

Full Registration with the General Dental CouncilOn Specialist Register for Special Care Dentistry or be eligible within six months of interview dateHigher-level (postgraduate) qualification in Sedation and/or Special Care Dentistry (at Postgraduate Certificate level or above), or equivalent experience.MFDS/ MJDFEvidence of training/ a postgraduate qualification in education/ dental educationCompletion of a recognised 3-year specialist training programme in Special Care Dentistry.Experience

Current experience with conscious sedation including transmucosal techniques.Ability to demonstrate clinical procedures at a specialist level, with an emphasis on Sedation and Special Care DentistryEvidence of up to date ILS trainingRepresentation on national and UK sedation and/or special care dentistry groupsDemonstrable experience of service development and managing changeEvidence of developing sedation and/or special care dentistry guidance and standardsDemonstrable knowledge of Value-based HealthcareExperience of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levelDemonstrable leadership in conscious sedation and/or special care dentistry at national level.Clinical Governance
