Sales Ledger Assistant

Brentford, West London | -35,000 per annum | Monday to Friday

We are working with an established automotive dealership group who are looking to recruit an experienced Sales Ledger Assistant - Accounts Receivable to join their finance team at their Brentford-based operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in dealership accounts, sales ledger management and credit control who is looking to join a busy and supportive finance department.

The Package

• Salary of -35,000 per annum.
• Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm.
• Flexible start and finish times, with the opportunity to agree an earlier or later working pattern.
• Brentford-based location.

The Role

Reporting to the Dealership Accountant, you will take responsibility for maintaining the sales ledgers for your allocated businesses, ensuring payments are accurately recorded, outstanding debts are proactively managed and financial records are kept up to date.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining and reconciling sales ledgers, accurately posting cash receipts and banking transactions.
• Managing outstanding debts and proactively chasing overdue accounts.
• Completing daily bank and cashbook reconciliations.
• Raising and issuing customer invoices and statements.
• Investigating payment discrepancies, account queries and outstanding items.
• Monitoring customer credit limits and agreed payment terms.
• Preparing daily, weekly and monthly financial reports, including debtor reports.
• Working closely with sales, service, parts and administration departments to resolve outstanding balances.
• Reviewing control accounts, investigating variances and preparing correcting journals.
• Completing month-end accounts receivable procedures.
• Assisting with vehicle stock checks and stock reconciliations.
• Supporting the wider finance team with additional accounting duties when required.

The Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have previous experience working within a motor dealership accounts department.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in accounts receivable, sales ledger or credit control.
• Experience working within a franchised or independent motor dealership.
• Knowledge of dealership accounting systems, ideally Kerridge (Keyloop) or Pinnacle.
• Experience with bank reconciliations and cashbook management.
• Strong numerical ability and excellent attention to detail.
• The confidence to investigate discrepancies and resolve account queries.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive approach and the ability to work to deadlines.
