Conduct analysis and evaluation of submarine platforms manoeuvring performance from concept design to in-service supportDevelop, verify and validate mathematical manoeuvring models using physical model test dataGenerate Safe Manoeuvring Envelopes and provide associated operator guidanceCollaborate with enterprise partners to develop modelling capability, processes and toolsets for major programmesWork with naval architecture, systems, Active Vehicle Control, propulsion teams, customers and suppliers to deliver innovative and safe submarine solutionsSupport and conduct hydrodynamic sea trials such as depth and heading control, including test form development and post-trial data analysisYour skills and experiences
Essential:Experience in generation of ship or submarine manoeuvring modellingAdvanced numeracy and analytical skillsStrong understanding of hydrodynamic principles and methodsDegree in Naval Architecture, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent experienceDesirable:Hydrodynamic/aerodynamic design and evaluation experiencePhysical testing experienceChartered Engineer or working towards/ability to achieveBenefits

As a Principal/Senior Naval Architect within the Vehicle Control team, you will be part of a team of Naval Architecture and Whole Boat Design experts contributing to complex submarine design and build programmes for the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy.
