Your Role as a SEN Teaching Assistant

You will work one-to-one and in small groups with pupils whose needs may include learning, communication, sensory or physical support.

• Follow EHCP outcomes and individual plans under teacher and specialist guidance.
• Use accessible resources, communication aids and sensory activities as agreed.
• Encourage participation, choice-making and independence at each pupil''s pace.
• Support care or mobility routines only where required and with appropriate training.

What We''re Looking For in a SEN Teaching Assistant

• Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, or relevant transferable experience supporting children or young people with complex needs.
• A SEN Teaching Assistant who is patient, attentive and comfortable working closely with a specialist team.
• Experience in specialist provision is advantageous; discuss care requirements before accepting an assignment.
• Safeguarding awareness and an enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
