Job Title: Family Support WorkerDepartment: Children''s Social CareLocation: Worcestershire (community-based with flexible working)Reports to: Team ManagerJob PurposeThe Family Support Worker provides targeted support to children, young people, and families where there is a Child in Need plan or a risk of family breakdown. The role focuses on working directly with families to strengthen parenting capacity, promote child development, and help keep children safely within their home environment.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out direct work with children (including pre-school children), parents, and carers as part of assessments and support plansEncourage and empower parents and carers to meet the needs of their childrenSupport families at risk of breakdown and work to maintain safe family environmentsProvide practical parenting support and promote understanding of child developmentContribute to assessment and planning processes to safeguard childrenWork in partnership with multi-agency professionalsWork flexibly, including evenings and weekends when requiredMaintain accurate written records and produce reportsFollow all safeguarding, equality, and health and safety policiesWorking RelationshipsThe post holder will maintain positive professional relationships with colleagues across children''s services and partner organisations.
