Overview
We provide industrial machinery installation, removal, relocation and mechanical maintenance services to customers in a wide range of industries.
Operating primarily in the Southeast but also working throughout the rest of the UK as needed, we take pride in providing a first-class service for all our customers, whether for a single machine movement or full multi-disciplined project. Each job is different and has its own unique challenges, which keeps our work interesting and varied.
Our primary interest is in the UK manufacturing sector however, we also work with plant engineering companies (handling boilers, air-handling-units, process skids, etc.) and recycling companies therefore, experience in any of these sectors would be of benefit.
We’re looking for a Project Engineer to join our team, taking ownership of engineering projects from initial enquiry through to delivery. This is a key role for the business and offers long term career progression for the right person.
You will be based from our Medway office but need to travel to our customers’ place of business for your role, sometimes staying out overnight.
We would be keen to receive applications from candidates who hold the following skills/experience:
- A Project Engineering background in a large manufacturing company, with first-hand experience of capital projects (new machine / line installations, redundant plant removals, factory relocation, etc.).
- Technical Sales Manager/Contract Manager/Engineer currently working in the industrial relocation/installation industry.
- Previous experience of working capital projects relating to machinery installations and relocations.
Your main responsibilities:
- Attend enquiry meetings and carry out technical site surveys for the removal, installation or relocation of a wide range of industrial machinery, plant and equipment.
- Prepare a program of work, detailed costings and professional quotations for enquiries (using the company templates and processes).
- In conjunction with the Operations Manager, ensure the correct resources are identified for the job – labour, plant, equipment and materials.
- Negotiate to successfully win quoted work, whilst minimising company risk.
- Prepare method statements, risk assessments, lift plans, etc.
- Liaise with Operations Manager and Site Foreman on the requirements for secured work and maintain a high-level overview to ensure the job progresses to plan and budget.
- Capture and agree any variations with the customer to keep budgets on track.
- Debrief with the team on job completion to capture and communicate lessons learned.
- Report to management on agreed KPI’s.
Who we are looking for:
- Sound knowledge of industrial machinery handling and installation/removal processes.
- Good working knowledge of Health and Safety on manufacturing / industrial sites.
- Be organised, adaptable and flexible in your approach to work.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills (at all levels).
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude at all times, even under pressure.
- Ability to build new customer relationships and maintain/improve existing.
- A can-do attitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time keeping and attendance.
- Strong IT skills (Office suite, 2D CAD packages or crane planning software).
- Be an effective contributor to the team and business.
- Appointed Person qualification for lifting operations (training can be provided for the right candidate).
- You will need to hold a full UK driving licence.
